England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney will start tomorrow's World Cup warm-up match against Ecuador in Miami.
Rooney was criticised for his performance during Friday's 3-0 win over Peru at Wembley, leading to some calls for him to be dropped from the starting lineup with less than 10 days to go until the World Cup.
However, the 28-year-old is still short of full fitness having missed the final three games of the Premier League season, and Hodgson has opted to give him more match practice tomorrow.
"Wayne Rooney will start the game. I haven't spoken to him yet, but he will start the game," Hodgson told BBC Radio 5 live.
Rooney has scored 38 goals in 90 games for England but is yet to find the back of the net at a World Cup.
