Interim England boss Gareth Southgate takes positives and negatives from Friday's 3-0 win over Scotland at Wembley.

Interim England boss Gareth Southgate has revealed that he was pleased with his side's attacking performance against Scotland on Friday night, but has conceded that there were some problems at the back.

Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana and Gary Cahill scored the goals as England moved onto 10 points in Group F with a 3-0 victory over their big rivals at Wembley.

Southgate has admitted that England 'caused their own problems' during a match where Scotland passed up a number of chances to score, before the 46-year-old commented on his own position as interim head coach.

"We caused problems from ourselves. We want to play out from the back and were sloppy in that area. It is something to improve on. We caused our own problems but once we were through that phase on the fielder some of our use of the ball was fantastic," Southgate told ITV Sport.

"The team in an attacking sense played well. We played with an interchange of positions and there were some superb individual performances and we managed the game well towards the end.

"I will enjoy tonight. I was asked to take the job for four games and to keep the country top of the group. Tonight was important for the supporters and the team. It was important they came through a pressure game, especially at Wembley. I want time to go away and reflect. I have loved doing it but it is an opportunity for everyone to have time. The FA can decide what they want to do."

Southgate's future will be decided after England take on Spain in a friendly on Tuesday night.
