Ronny Deila satisfied with Fenerbahce draw

Celtic manager Ronny Deila says that he is happy with his side's 1-1 draw at Fenerbahce despite them failing to win any of their six Europa League group games.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila has said that he was pleased with the way that his side responded to going a goal behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce in their final Europa League group match.

Kris Commons scored with his very first touch of the game after coming on as a substitute to rescue a point for the Bhoys which left them winless from their six group matches and bottom of the group.

However, Deila insisted that he was satisfied with the result in Turkey and stressed that the outcome was a good one against a team with more European experience than his own.

"I am satisfied," he told reporters. "When you see the game, 1-1 is a good result. They are a good team, I think that we were well organised today, we did not concede a lot of chances against us which was good.

"To get something from Fenerbahce is tough. We had a lot of players with not much experience in Europe [but] they showed tonight that they can get a result. We were 3-3 on aggregate against Fenerbahce, a very good football team.

"In the first half, we defended well and created a couple of chances, but then they got the goal and it made it a lot harder for us. We had to defend a lot and work hard. The game turned on the red card and also because we brought on fresh legs and creative players. We got the goal, and overall [it was] a good performance and result."

Celtic now turn their attention back to the Scottish Premiership title race ahead of a clash at St Johnstone on Sunday which could see them move seven points clear at the top of the table.
