Romelu Lukaku: 'Premier League intensity could serve us well in Europe'

Everton forward Romelu Lukaku believes that the intensity of the Premier League could serve the club well when playing in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku believes that the club could go far in the Europa League if they are able to maintain the intensity that they play with in the Premier League.

The Toffees made it into the last 32 of the tournament with relative ease and will now face Young Boys as they bid to reach the final in Warsaw, with 21-year-old Lukaku suggesting that the pace of games on home soil could benefit them in Europe.

"We want to win the competition and if we want to do that then we need to deliver a good performance over there," said Lukaku, according to the Liverpool Echo.

"Even though we know it is not going to be easy we are professionals and we have to do the job. It all depends on the day. If we play with the intensity that we play with in the Premier League then not many teams can cope with us.

"Once you play against European teams and play at their place and in the way they like to play then it is easier for them. A lot of teams in the European competitions have difficulties when playing against a Premier League side that plays at the tempo of the Premier League."

Everton are to play their first ever European tie in Switzerland when they meet the Berne club on February 1.
