Everton will reportedly call in experts to determine the nature of Jack Rodwell's continuing hamstring problems.
The 21-year-old has completed 90 minutes just once since November, and he again troubled the issue in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Sunderland in the FA Cup.
Everton's assistant boss, Steve Round, has admitted that the club are keen to get to the bottom of the issue.
"We think it is something to do with the nervous system and are exploring that avenue. We owe it to him to make sure that we are doing the right thing and it maybe that a summer's rest or an injection into a nerve to get the inflammation down helps," Round told The Mirror.
Rodwell has made 109 appearances for the club.
