Everton book their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup by securing a 3-1 win over Swansea City at Goodison Park.

Everton have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup by securing a 3-1 win over Swansea City at Goodison Park.

Monaco loanee Lacina Traore marked his Toffees debut with a goal after just five minutes, before Jonathan de Guzman struck to earn the Swans a 1-1 half-time scoreline.

However, Roberto Martinez's men re-established the lead in the second half through Steven Naismith, before Leighton Baines sealed his team's passage into the last-eight stage with a penalty shortly after.

It was Swansea who started the better of both sides. Garry Monk's men could have edged ahead as early as the third minute, with Roland Lamah firing straight at goalkeeper Joel Robles from close range.

The miss would prove costly as the Merseyside outfit struck minutes later, Traore executing a clever back-heel past keeper Gerhard Tremmel after a Ross Barkley free kick sparked panic in the area.

The Swans responded well to the setback and drew level on 15 minutes, with De Guzman leaping highest to head home a Neil Taylor cross.

Martinez's side were unfortunate not to take a slender advantage into the interval after Steven Pienaar's effort cannoned off the post.

Naismith fired the hosts ahead in somewhat fortuitous circumstances five minutes after the hour mark, capitalising on a loose back-pass from Taylor before slotting his effort beneath the advancing Tremmel.

The Scotland international turned provider six minutes later, drawing a foul from Jazz Richards inside the area. Baines kept his cool from 12 yards and sealed Everton's progression to the next round.
