Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin has declared that his side's 3-0 win over Sunderland in the EFL Cup will give them a much-needed confidence boost.
The Toffees have endured a tough start to the current campaign, losing four on the bounce in all competitions prior to their victory over the Black Cats, but the youngster believes that their latest result puts them in good stead for Saturday's meeting with Bournemouth.
"From a confidence point of view, it has been a tough period for us so we knew going into the game we wanted to not only win the game but win it convincingly, and we have done that," Calvert-Lewin told talkSPORT.
"We will take confidence from that performance and take that into Saturday.
"We knew going into going into the season it would be a tough period with the fixtures we had and obviously given the results it has been frustrating for us but off the back of tonight, winning 3-0, we will take confidence from that and everyone is looking forward to going into Saturday and starting the game."
Calvert-Lewin found the net twice against Sunderland, with the Blues' third coming from substitute Oumar Niasse.
