Everton midfielder Ross Barkey believes that it is important for England to face South American opposition before next summer's World Cup in Brazil.
The likes of Brazil, Argentina are expected to make a bold bid to win the tournament next summer, and Barkley has insisted that facing Chile on Friday evening will provide good preparation for Roy Hodgson's side.
The 19-year-old told the club's official website: "You don't know what opponents that you'll come up against until the draw, but there's a good possibility that we could get a South American team, so it will be good for England to play against Chile.
"They are a different type of team than we're used to, and it will be a good experience."
Barkley made his debut for England earlier this season as a second-half substitute against Moldova.
