Cenk Tosun has insisted that he understands why he has been overlooked for selection by Everton boss Sam Allardyce and has again vowed to fight for a starting spot.
The Turkey international has failed to find the net during combined total of 196 minutes for the Toffees since making a £27m move from Besiktas nearly six weeks ago.
Allardyce left Tosun on the bench for Everton's 3-1 win over Crystal Palace last weekend and admitted afterwards that the marquee January signing is 'struggling to adapt'.
Speaking to turkish-football.com, however, Tosun claimed that he can have no real complaints as he has yet to reach peak fitness.
"I am in a completely different league. I'm doing everything to settle in and bond with my new teammates," he said. "I did not play in the last game but it does not bother me.
"I am just focused on my game and training hard. I am going to be a lot fitter in a fortnight's time and then return to the starting 11."
Everton's next fixture is against Watford in the Premier League on February 24.
