Everton find the net on four occasions to take maximum points at the expense of Sunderland at Goodison Park.

FA Cup semi-finalists Everton scored four goals without reply against Sunderland at Goodison Park this afternoon.

Neither goalkeeper was called into any telling action before the break, with both teams finding it difficult to create clear-cut chances.

Everton's best chance fell to Steven Pienaar, who was unable to keep his rising effort on target.

Up the other end Stephane Sessegnon sent an overhead kick attempt wide of Tim Howard's goal as the half drew to a close.

The hosting Toffees started with a greater attack intent after the restart, as Denis Stracqualursi saw a headed effort held by Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Their pressure finally told in the 52nd minute thanks to Magaye Gueye, who pounced on the rebound after Mignolet had parried an effort from Leon Osman.

David Moyes's side continued to dominate and extended their advantage further when Pienaar, who was unmarked on the edge of the area, converted a pass from Gueye 14 minutes from time.

The points were sealed just a minute later when Gueye claimed another assist, picking out Osman who beat Mignolet from long range via the aid of the post.

The scoring was completed in the 81st minute when substitute Victor Anichebe's effort was deflected into his own net by Sunderland full-back Jack Colback.
