Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has reportedly told the Merseyside club that he wants to leave this summer.

Branthwaite spent the 2022-23 season on loan with Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven, where he enjoyed regular game time.

The centre-back made 37 appearances across all competitions for PSV, chipping in with four goals and two assists.

Branthwaite also managed to collect the first piece of silverware of his senior career after winning the KNVB Beker.

After being impressed with Branthwaite's performances, PSV attempted to secure him on a permanent deal in the January window, but Everton rebuffed their approach.

After completing the season with the Eredivisie club, Branthwaite admitted that he would be open to staying at the Philips Stadion.

"That is always difficult to say as a professional football player," Branthwaite told Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur.

"I am under contract with Everton, so it is their right not to want to sell me, of course. I am absolutely open to staying at PSV, but the clubs have to decide together."

While PSV may be priced out of a permanent transfer, Branthwaite could still head through the exit door this summer.

According to Football Insider, the centre-back has told Everton that he wants to leave the club ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

The 21-year-old, who has two years left on his contract, is keen to move elsewhere to secure regular playing time.

The Everton academy product has been identified as a potential target for West Ham United, who are looking to strengthen their defence this summer.

Branthwaite is currently part of the England squad that is competing at the Under-21 European Championships in Georgia and Romania.

After being an unused substitute for the first two games, the young defender played the duration of England's 2-0 victory over Germany in their final group match earlier today. body check tags ::
