Premier League side Everton have announced that they have reached an agreement with FC Twente to sign Leroy Fer.
Speculation earlier today claimed that the Toffees had beaten off reported competition from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United for the 23-year-old.
The Merseyside have now confirmed those rumours via a short statement on their official website.
"Everton has agreed a deal with FC Twente for the transfer of Dutch international Leroy Fer," it read. "The 23-year-old midfielder will now head to Merseyside to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical."
Fer, who has made two appearances for the Dutch senior national side, is thought to be costing Everton around £8m.
