Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that Nikica Jelavic may move on during the January transfer window.
The Croatian striker is behind Romelu Lukaku in the pecking order at Goodison Park, but Martinez wants to keep the former Rangers forward.
However, the Spaniard has acknowledged that Jelavic may have to leave this month in order to establish his claims for the Croatia World Cup squad.
Speaking after watching his player score twice in the Blues' 4-0 FA Cup triumph over Queens Park Rangers, Martinez told reporters: "I don't want to sell Jela, but I understand it's a key moment for him. If the World Cup wasn't this summer, this wouldn't be discussed.
"I thought Nikica's performance was very good. He is frustrated he didn't get the hat-trick (after missing a penalty) and he deserved to.
"He hadn't done that in training before. He executes penalties very well, but the chip showed confidence."
Jelavic has been linked with a move to QPR this month.
