Evian TG have secured a convincing 2-0 win against Guingamp in this afternoon's Ligue 1 clash at the Parc des Sports.
The visitors were first to register an effort, with Christophe Kerbrat seeing his header in the fifth minute saved by Jesper Hansen in the Evian goal.
Adrien Thomasson and Gianni Bruno came close in quick succession for the hosts a few minutes later, but both shots ended up flying just wide of the post.
Following the lively start, the game subsequently became increasingly scrappy and concentrated in midfield, save for Claudio Beauvue's effort just before the quarter-hour mark.
Though the minutes leading up to first-half injury time saw a spike in goalmouth action, neither side could open the scoring by the break.
This changed in the second half, however, as Daniel Wass broke the deadlock for Evian on the hour, his free kick sailing emphatically into the top-right corner of the Guingamp net.
Another lull followed after the goal, but soon enough, both sides were trading efforts at a frantic rate, Beauvue trying especially hard to get his team back into the game.
However, Evian were able to seal the win with just nine minutes to go when Thomasson's cross fell to Nicki Bille, who duly struck home to end Guingamp's hopes of salvaging something from the game.
