Evian TG have caused a shock by climbing out of the relegation zone with a 3-0 victory over Metz in Ligue 1.
Metz dominated proceedings from the first whistle, and Evian were forced back by the pressure, with Juan Manuel Falcon going close from the edge of the box early on.
Despite their promising start to the game, Metz were restricted to speculative efforts throughout the first half, and were denied an opening goal before the break when Florent Malouda's powerful strike was tipped wide by Jesper Hansen.
Evian responded by starting the second half brightly, and they were gifted the opening goal in strange fashion just after the hour mark.
A Cedric Barbosa cross caused the opener to arrive as the ball took a wicked deflection off Cheick Doukoure, before looping over the helpless Anthony Mfa Mezui.
Evian were handed the chance to double their lead when Mfa Mezui brought down Modou Sougou inside the box, allowing Daniel Wass to fire home from the penalty spot.
The hosts wrapped up a comfortable win in the closing stages through Gianni Bruno, who hammered home a third for his side inside a congested box.
