New Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer has refused to play down the importance of his team's upcoming Champions League qualifier against Shakhtar Donetsk.
In one of the standout ties of the third qualifying round, Fenerbahce will take on Shakhtar, with the first leg due to take place on Tuesday evening.
Kjaer, who joined the Turkish side from Lille this summer, has said that his new club's investment in this transfer window makes it even more important to secure Champions League football.
"I was told before I signed that the club would show extremely high ambitions this summer and get more good players and add to the already good squad, and the club have done exactly that," he told Goal.com.
"My dream was to be part of a top club playing for titles and hopefully playing in the Champions League.
"Winning the league and being on the biggest international stage - that's the ambition of Fenerbahce. So the games against Shakhtar are very important for us."
Robin van Persie and Nani have also both joined the Turkish club from Manchester United this summer.
