Sports Mole previews Thursday's Europa League clash between Feyenoord and Dinamo Zagreb, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Feyenoord host Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League on Thursday night, with both sides looking to cement their places in the top two of Group K.

The Dutch side have only won one of their four group-stage matches, while the visitors remain unbeaten, three points above them at the top of the group.

Match preview

Feyenoord are hoping to continue their good run of form in all competitions after going unbeaten in their last six matches.

Dick Advocaat has had to manage with a depleted squad in recent weeks, but that does not seem to have affected the team on the pitch as of yet, with the Dutch side one of two Eredivisie top-flight teams to remain unbeaten and still have a strong chance of progressing to the knockout stages of the Europa League.

One player who will be fit and available for selection is forward Steven Berghuis, who has been directly involved in 25 chances in the Europa League this season – only CSKA Moscow's Nikola Vlasic and Arsenal's Nicolas Pepe have been involved in more.

Feyenoord have won, drawn and lost in each of their three previous meetings with Croatian sides, drawing 0-0 in the reverse fixture against Dinamo Zagreb in October.

Victory for Feyenoord would see them go level on points with Zagreb at the top of Group D.

Dinamo have taken command of Group K in recent weeks after back-to-back victories over Wolfsberger saw the Croatian side climb to the top of the table.

Goals from Lovro Majer, Bruno Petkovic and Luka Ivanusec secured a comfortable win over the Austrian side in last week's match.

Dinamo Zagreb head into their game with Feyenoord winless in their last seven meetings with Dutch opponents in all competitions, failing to score in each of their last six.

However, Zoran Mamic's side are unbeaten in the Europa League this campaign and they are the only team yet to concede a goal in the first four matches.

Securing their third win in a row would confirm their place in the knockout stages of the competition, topping the group as they did in the 2018-19 season.

Team News

Feyenoord head coach Dick Advocaat faces difficulties in picking his starting XI, with up to nine players absent ahead of Thursday's match.

Justin Bijlow, Christian Conteh, Ridgeciano Haps, Tyrell Malacia, Leroy Fer, Robert Bozenik and Luis Sinisterra are all unavailable due to injury.

In addition, striker Nicolai Jorgensen is suspended, while Sven van Beek remains doubtful with an ankle injury.

Midfielder Orkun Kokcu could be recalled to the side after missing the 1-1 draw with Utrecht through suspension.

Dinamo, on the other hand, have no injury concerns as they head to the Netherlands.

Wales Under-21's midfielder Robbie Burton, who has made two substitute appearances for the club, will be hoping to earn his first start since joining from Arsenal earlier this year.

Feyenoord possible starting lineup:
Marsman; Nieuwkoop, Botteghin, Senesi, Geertruida; Diemers, Toornstra, Kokcu; Berghuis, Bannis, Linssen

Dinamo Zagreb possible starting lineup:
Livakovic; Moharrami, Lauritsen, Peric, Gvardiol; Franjic, Ademi, Majer; Kastrati, Petkovic, Orsic

We say: Feyenoord 0-1 Dinamo Zagreb

Feyenoord will be hoping to move clear of both Wolfsberger and CSKA Moscow in Group K, but with a depleted squad they may struggle against a Zagreb side who are looking stronger and are aiming to win the group.
