Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella has blasted the club's supporters for booing his team as they crashed out of the Europa League this evening.
The Italians saw their hopes of reaching the final ended by suffering a 2-0 defeat against Sevilla, which sealed a 5-0 aggregate loss.
However, Montella felt that his side were unlucky not to find the net in either of their semi-final ties and he was upset that fans of the club jeered their own players.
"We certainly weren't fortunate over the two legs, as Sevilla scored almost 100% of their chances and we got 0%," he told Sport Mediaset.
"I thought Fiorentina tried to play and score right to the final whistle, even though qualification was clearly out of reach, so they deserve more respect than they received.
"Considering the efforts, the results so far all season, I don't think this side deserved jeers. I think my team deserves more respect than they are getting at this moment from the crowd."
Fiorentina last reached the final of the Europa League in 1990.
