Luca Toni has dedicated his goal in Fiorentina's 2-0 win over Catania to "those who are here and those who have gone".
The 35-year-old, who returned for his second stint with Viola minutes before the transfer window closed, scored with his first touch after coming on to replace Adem Ljajic in the 64th minute.
"I can't believe it," said the Italy international. "Not even in my wildest dreams did I expect that.
"I am happy in Florence and the people love me. I'm so pleased, as the love of the fans fills me far more than many other trophies. I want to play and I want to play for this city.
"I dedicate this goal to everyone who stayed close to me during these difficult months. I dedicate it to those who are here and those who have gone."
Toni scored 47 goals in 67 games during a two-year stay at the Stadio Artemio Franchi between 2005 and 2007.
