AC Milan have ended a run of four Serie A matches without a win courtesy of a 2-0 victory against Fiorentina this evening.
Alessandro Matri had an early sight of goal for the home side, but after being picked out in the box he headed wide of the far post.
Midway through the first half Milan took the lead through Philippe Mexes, who slotted home from close range after Mario Balotelli's free kick had been parried by the keeper.
Sulley Muntari came close to scoring a second for the visitors soon after, but Neto was alert to push his powerful strike over the bar.
Milan continued to look the more threatening of the two sides and Adel Taarabt saw his long-range effort tipped over by Neto.
Matri should have drawn the hosts level at the beginning of the second half, but after latching on to a header across goal, he nodded the ball wide of the post.
Fiorentina came close again soon after when Massimo Ambrosini fired a loose ball into the side-netting following a corner.
In the 64th minute the visitors doubled their lead, as Balotelli curled a free kick from just outside the box into the top corner.
The home side looked for a way back into the game, but Milan held firm to record a much-needed victory.
