Wigan Athletic have lost their second match in a row this summer with a 4-1 defeat against Fortuna Dusseldorf in Germany.
The Championship side took the lead on 24 minutes through Oriol Riera's penalty, after Callum McManaman was fouled inside the area.
However, Dusseldorf got themselves level with 33 minutes played when Erwin Hoffer converted Ben Halloran's cross.
The Germans then went ahead eight minutes after the restart as Michael Liendl bundled the ball in from a corner.
Dusseldorf extended their advantage with Mathis Bolly's deflected effort on 63 minutes, and they made it 4-1 late on thanks to Charlison Benschop's calm finish.
