How France could line up against the Republic of Ireland

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how France could line up for Monday's Euro 2024 qualifying Group B clash with the Republic of Ireland.

France manager Didier Deschamps has no fresh injury concerns to factor in for Monday's trip to Dublin to take on the Republic of Ireland in their second Euro 2024 qualifying Group B battle.

Les Bleus served the Netherlands a slice of humble pie with a 4-0 thrashing on Friday evening, where Kylian Mbappe wore the armband for the first time following Hugo Lloris's retirement.

The Paris Saint-Germain attacker led by example - scoring twice to overtake Karim Benzema and become Les Bleus' fifth-highest scorer of all time - and another start on the left will come his way here.

While one member of the old guard in Olivier Giroud is still fit and firing, Randal Kolo Muani was an effervescent presence on Friday and should occupy the number nine role once more.

Much was made about Antoine Griezmann's reaction to being overlooked for the captaincy, but the Atletico Madrid forward quickly became friends with Mbappe again - opening the scoring against the Netherlands within just two minutes from his colleague's cutback.

Griezmann and Kingsley Coman ought to complete a menacing France frontline, as Aurelien Tchouameni and Adrien Rabiot resume their effective midfield partnership once again.

Dayot Upamecano was also among the scorers on Friday night, but his blushes were spared after giving away a last-minute penalty for handball, as Mike Maignan denied Memphis Depay from 12 yards.

Upamecano and new number one Maignan are set to continue in a formidable backline, which should also comprise Jules Kounde, Ibrahima Konate and Theo Hernandez in an unaltered XI.

France possible starting lineup: Maignan; Kounde, Konate, Upamecano, T. Hernandez; Tchouameni, Rabiot; Coman, Griezmann, Mbappe; Kolo Muani body check tags ::
