Former France forward Youri Djorkaeff has warned the current team not to get carried away by their strong start to the World Cup.

Les Bleus will face Nigeria in the last 16 on Monday after finishing at the top of Group E with two wins and a draw from their three matches.

While admitting that the French are showing plenty of promise in Brazil, Djorkaeff is wary of putting them among the favourites to win the tournament.

"I think we've got a team with a real future, one that will compete well, focus on the task at hand and put in some watchable performances," the 46-year-old told FIFA.com.

"Let's leave predictions to the fans, though. France have to take one game at a time. The goal has to be to play well in the next match. But we're on a good run, and we need to keep it going."

Djorkaeff was part of the France side that won the 1998 World Cup and the European Championship in 2000.
