Fulham appoint former Sheffield Wednesday boss Stuart Gray as senior coach, with their search for a new head coach continuing.

Fulham have announced that they have appointed former Sheffield Wednesday boss Stuart Gray as senior coach, while their search for a new manager continues.

The Cottagers have been looking for a new boss for a month after sacking Kit Symons in November, as talks with Steve Clarke recently broke down, while Mark Warburton and Gary Rowett have also been linked with the Craven Cottage club.

Gray had been out of work since being sacked by Wednesday in June, and Fulham have confirmed that the 55-year-old will take charge of the side on an interim basis.

"The search for a permanent head coach goes on, but it is important to ensure we focus fully on getting results back on track while this process continues," chief football officer Mike Rigg told the club's official website.

"With that, I'd like to welcome Stuart Gray, who has joined the club as senior coach and has already begun working with the first team to prepare for Saturday's home match against Brentford.

"Alongside Stuart will be Steve Wigley, who has assisted Stuart in training and will continue in that capacity while joining him in the dugout on matchdays. Stuart has a proven track record in both coaching and management with caretaker spells at Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers prior to joining Sheffield Wednesday as head coach."

Fulham are currently 16th in the Championship.
