Cardiff City and Fulham have been relegated from the Premier League following their defeats and Sunderland's 1-0 win over Manchester United this afternoon.
The Bluebirds needed a victory in their clash with Newcastle United but fell to a 3-0 defeat at St James' Park, which has culminated in their drop back to Championship after just one season in the top flight.
Felix Magath's side were also in dire need of a win to keep in touch with the Black Cats and Aston Villa at the bottom, but they endured a 4-1 loss at the hands of Stoke City, ending their 13-year stay in the Premier League.
The final relegation place can be filled if Norwich City fail to beat Chelsea on Sunday and Sunderland take a point from their clash with West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday.
