Fulham attacker Clint Dempsey has joined Tottenham Hotspur for £6m on a three-year contract after Liverpool and Aston Villa failed in bids to sign him.
The American had attracted attention from numerous suitors after stating his wish to leave Craven Cottage, with Villa, Sunderland and Liverpool all interested.
Villa had a bid accepted for the 29-year-old earlier today but Dempsey turned down a move to the West Midlands and instead opted to hold out for a switch to Anfield.
However, Fulham rejected Liverpool when they made an approach, seemingly ending Dempsey's chances of getting his desired move.
In a late twist though, Spurs have wrapped up a move for the versatile forward after failing to capture either Marseille striker Loic Remy or Shakhtar Donetsk winger Willian.
