Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino is hoping to earn himself a place in Italy's squad for Euro 2012.
The 29-year-old has slipped out of coach Cesare Prandelli's thinking for recent selections.
However, Gilardino is hoping to prove his worth to Prandelli between now and the end of the season.
"I have 11 Serie A games left to convince Prandelli and up to this point I will admit I've been inconsistent, but the coach knows what I can give," Gilardino told Tuttosport.
"If I am not called, then I will reflect carefully on the reasons and the mistakes I made. I'm sure Italy can be protagonists in Poland and Ukraine."
Gilardino has scored 17 goals at international level.
