Germany boss Joachim Low tells his troops to make amends for the shock defeat to Poland by beating the Republic of Ireland in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday.

Joachim Low has told his Germany team to atone for Saturday's shock defeat to Poland by beating the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday.

The Germans suffered a slight setback in their Euro 2016 qualification campaign as second-half goals from Arkadiusz Milik and Sebastian Mila humbled the world champions in Warsaw.

Low has claimed that the defeat was borne out of an inability to convert their chances, but says that next week's visit of the Irish represents a chance to make things right.

"One little thing went wrong: we were too wasteful with our chances. The finishing touch was missing, that's why we did not score a goal," he told RTL.

"But I was absolutely satisfied with our style of play. We created many chances and Poland scored with their first dangerous attack.

"After a loss you must look for a reaction. We have to get our strength back and we must win the match on Tuesday. Republic of Ireland will play in the same way, they will be playing defensively."

Tuesday's clash in Gelsenkirchen kicks off at 7.45pm and will be covered live by Sports Mole.
