How Germany could line up against England

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Germany could line up for their Euro 2020 last-16 clash with England on Tuesday.

Germany have fresh concerns over Premier League duo Ilkay Gundogan and Antonio Rudiger for Tuesday's Euro 2020 last-16 clash with England.

Both players were not involved in Sunday's training session ahead of the trip to Wembley, with Rudiger coming down with a cold while Gundogan is reportedly nursing a cranial bruise.

However, the duo are still expected to form part of the travelling party for Tuesday's game, and Rudiger will take his usual place in the back three alongside Matthias Ginter and Mats Hummels if he recovers in time.

Niklas Sule may come into contention if Rudiger is still ill come Tuesday, but Gundogan's spot in midfield was already under threat following Leon Goretzka's late equaliser against Hungary during their third and final group game.

Goretzka could therefore be preferred in the middle of the park alongside Toni Kroos, with Joshua Kimmich and Robin Gosens providing a constant threat out wide, although the latter has his own infection to overcome.

Thomas Muller battled his way back from a knee problem to appear as a substitute against Hungary, and the Bayern Munich man could displace his clubmate Leroy Sane in the final third for Tuesday's crunch match.

Kai Havertz will likely continue in the attacking contingent as fellow Chelsea teammate Timo Werner warms the bench, while Serge Gnabry will return to the English capital hoping to replicate his four-goal showing for Bayern against Tottenham Hotspur in October 2019.

Germany possible starting lineup: Neuer; Ginter, Hummels, Rudiger; Kimmich, Kroos, Goretzka, Gosens; Havertz, Muller; Gnabry
