Germany will be without Mario Gomez for their World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan away from home on Friday because of a thigh strain.
The Bayern Munich striker picked up the injury during a training session and has been advised to rest for a few days to recover.
The 27-year-old could make his recovery in time for Germany's home game against their Group C rivals on Tuesday.
Gomez's injury means that Germany coach Joachim Low will have just one out-and-out striker for Friday's match in Lukas Podolski.
