Germany midfielder Christoph Kramer was forced off in the first half of the World Cup final following a clash with Argentina's Ezequiel Garay.
Kramer had only come into the XI some 15 minutes before kickoff following an injury to Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira in the warm-up.
However, the 23-year-old lasted just 30 minutes on his first competitive German start.
The score is goalless at the interval of the clash in the Maracana.
