A first-half strike from Alvaro Vasquez was enough for Getafe to beat Almeria tonight and record their first win of the new La Liga season.
Cosmin Contra's side, who finished 13th in the Spanish top division last term, lost 3-1 away to Celta Vigo in their opening fixture last weekend.
Getafe applied all of the early pressure as Fredy Hinestroza forced Ruben into a smart 13th-minute save, while Sergio Escudero and Pablo Sarabia tried their luck from distance.
Former Swansea City striker Vasquez, who left Wales to join Getafe earlier this summer, got off the mark for his new club by shooting through a congested area, into the bottom corner from eight yards.
It was a deserved lead for the hosts, but one that came under threat before the break as Jonathan set up Edgar to shoot narrowly over, before himself testing Vicente Guaita from inside the box.
Both sides had chances after the interval as Getafe threatened to pull away through Hinestroza's header, while Almeria nearly equalised as Guaita saved from Fernando Soriano and Tomer Hemed.
That was all that Almeria could muster, though, and Getafe withstood the visiting attacks to comfortably see out the final 15 minutes, during which Sarabia should have secured the points with a wasted header.
