Real Sociedad had to come from behind to secure a 1-1 draw with Getafe in La Liga this evening, with both goals coming in the second half.
Getafe had the majority of the early possession, but Juan Rodriguez could not pick out one of his teammates with a curling delivery into the box from a free kick, while a corner was quickly cleared by the visitors.
Sociedad could have opened the scoring before the 20-minute mark though as Carlos Vela attempted to rifle the ball in from close range, but Guaita pulled off the save to keep the sides level.
The visitors came close again shortly before half time as Bruma managed to create some space to get a shot away from the edge of the box following a corner, but his finish was a fraction wide of the target.
It did not take Getafe long to open the scoring after the restart, though, as Rodriguez lofted the ball into the box just moments into the second half, setting up Pablo Sarabia for a header past the keeper at the near post.
Imanol Agirretxe quickly looked for the equaliser for La Real, but Guaita made another solid stop for the hosts, diving to his right to keep the striker's low finish out of the bottom corner.
The visitors did manage to scramble the ball into the back of the net with just over 20 minutes remaining as the ball bounced around inside the penalty area, before Agirretxe managed to get something on it at the post, scuffing it into the back of the net.
Sociedad came close to taking the lead for the first time in the match when Asier Illarramendi crossed the ball in for Jonathas, but his accurate finish lacked the power needed to beat the keeper.
Jonathas and Xabi Prieto continued to look lively in the final minutes as the visiting side pressed for a late winner, but Guaita continued to frustrate Sociedad with a series of confident clearances from the keeper ensuring that the visitors did not claim all three points.
The result moves Sociedad up to 13th in the table, while Getafe jump up to 15th.
