Granada president Quique Pina has confirmed that Lucas Alcaraz has decided to stand down as head coach of the Spanish outfit.
Alcaraz hinted at a departure after leading El Grana to La Liga safety on the final weekend of the season and that has now been confirmed by the club's president.
"Some of the Granada fans have been very unfair with Lucas Alcaraz and I'll make it clear, I've always backed him," he told Ideal.es.
"I hope his departure will be well respected and without evaluating all the work we've done, because I've seen first-hand how things have gone for the manager and I remain behind him.
"I'm very proud to have worked with him. He spoke with me alone after the end of the game. I wouldn't have minded carrying on with Lucas, because he achieved his objectives for two consecutive seasons."
Granada finished the campaign in 15th position.
