Groningen have booked their place in the semi-finals of the KNVB Beker by hammering Vitesse 4-0 at Euroborg this evening.
Despite a number of goalscoring chances for both sides, it took until past the hour mark for the hosts to make the breakthrough.
Guram Kashia's handball inside the box saw Groningen awarded a penalty and he was sent off for picking up a second yellow card.
Melvin de Leeuw took the resulting spot kick and although his effort was saved by Eloy Room, Tjaronn Chery converted the rebound.
De Leeuw made up for that miss three minutes later by doubling his side's lead, and 10 minutes later Yoell van Nieff struck a third.
Maikel Kieftenbeld added a fourth goal late on as the hosts eased into the last four of the cup.
