Groningen and Heerenveen have played out a 1-1 draw in this afternoon's Eredivisie clash at the Euroborg.
The hosts opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Maikel Kieftenbeld threaded a pass through to Michael de Leeuw, who found space and struck home to put his side in the lead.
However, Heerenveen regrouped immediately and nearly pulled it back moments later when Daley Sinkgraven's header from a corner flew just wide.
The visitors found the equaliser when Mark Uth latched onto a loose ball following a corner and fired past Sergio Padt.
On the stroke of half time, Uth could have put his side into the lead following Luciano Slagveer's through ball, but the German's shot flew wide.
Groningen thought they were back in the lead when Tjaronn Chery's free kick was bundled into the net by Kappelhof, but the referee disallowed the goal for offside.
With under ten minutes left to play, a Heerenveen corner was almost headed in by a Groningen player, but the hosts managed to escape danger.
Neither side was able to impose themselves on the game in the final stages, so both had to settle for a point each at the final whistle.
