Halifax Town are on course to record a fifth successive win after fighting back to lead Lincoln City 2-1 at half time.
The home side fell behind in bizarre circumstances after 10 minutes when Hamza Bencherif charged down an attempted clearance with the ball finding its way over goalkeeper Matt Glannon.
The goal brought an immediate response from Halifax who, after going close through Richard Peniket, equalised shortly before the half-hour mark.
Lincoln failed to clear the ball after a goalmouth scramble, and Marc Roberts kept his composure to beat his marker before firing into the net from inside the penalty area.
It appeared as though the two teams would go into the break on level terms but, in first-half injury time, Halifax were awarded a penalty when Arnaud Mendy was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area.
The spot kick was confidently dispatched by Scott Boden to give the league leaders a well-deserved lead.
