Former Borussia Dortmund manager Bert van Marwijk has revealed that he is poised to return to the Bundesliga as the new coach of Hamburger SV.
The German club are looking for a new boss following the sacking of Thorsten Fink, who was dismissed on Tuesday with Hamburg second from bottom in the table with just four points from six games.
Van Marwijk, who has been out of work since leaving his position as Netherlands coach last year, has claimed to a Dutch television station that he is to replace Fink at the Imtech Arena.
"HSV called me as soon as Fink was dismissed," Van Marwijk told NOS. "We then sat down during the week and I told them what I could offer.
"They told me what they wanted. The contract is a two-year one with an option for a third.
"Hamburg is a fantastic city and HSV have a great team with a great tradition and a beautiful stadium. I'm going to drive to Hamburg on Sunday morning."
Van Marwijk spent two-and-a-half seasons at Dortmund between 2004 and 2006.
