Sports Mole

Having returned to winning ways, Zhejiang Professional welcome Guangzhou City to the Wuyuan River Stadium on Sunday in round 10 of the 2022 Chinese Super League season.

Meanwhile, the away side head into this one still yet to pick up a single point this term off the back of a ninth straight defeat last time out.

Match preview

Zhejiang Professional saw off the threat of Dalian Pro in a routine 2-0 victory at the Mission Hills Football Base Stadium on Wednesday.

Jordi Vinyals's men took the lead in the 26th minute through Nyasha Mushekwi before an own goal from Xianjun Wang in the early exchanges of the second half put the result beyond doubt.

Consequently, the Green Giants have moved up into the top half of the league table but still remain a long way off current leaders Wuhan Three Towns.

Next up for them is the challenge of an opposing outfit who they have only beaten in one of the last eight meetings between the teams.

However, that solitary victory did come in the most recent encounter last month, when Sunday's hosts ended a seven-game losing streak in this fixture with a thrilling 4-2 win.

Guangzhou City came away empty-handed from their clash with Henan Songshan Longmen on Thursday, which ended 2-1 in favour of the latter.

Jean-Paul van Gastel's men took the lead in the 32nd minute thanks to Chun-Lok Tan before a second-half double from Zichang Huang turned the game on its head.

The Blue Lions remain rock-bottom in the standings and are now already seven points shy of safety after just nine rounds of matches.

Ahead of the final matchday of the first stage of the current campaign, Sunday's visitors will be keen to get themselves up and running before the action resumes.

Team News

Having finally earned a recall to the starting XI against Henan, Yuelei Cheng will expect to retain his place between the sticks at the expense of Jiaqi Han.

Following his recent return from a fairly lengthy injury layoff, Yang Yang was handed his first start of the season in the aforementioned game, and he will be hopeful of getting the nod to feature right from the off once again.

Bin Gu will not take part on Sunday, as he is suspended for Zhejiang Professional after receiving his marching orders in the victory over Dalian.

With three goals in his last five games for the home side, Nyasha Mushekwi has come to the fore of late and is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Zhejiang Professional possible starting lineup:
Zhao; Gao, Sun, Wang, Yue; Zhang, Andrijasevic, Liu; Ewolo, Cheng, Mushekwi

Guangzhou City possible starting lineup:
Cheng; Fan, Yi, Jiang, Huang; Cardona, Li, Zhang, Chen; Yang, Tan

We say: Zhejiang Professional 2-0 Guangzhou City

Guangzhou have been all over the place defensively so far, while their attacking displays have been largely underwhelming. We are tipping Zhejiang to claim all three points at the end of the 90 minutes in this one.
