Heerenveen have edged themselves away from the Eredivisie relegation zone following a 2-0 home win over Cambuur.
The hosts took the lead after just four minutes when a speculative effort into the Cambuur box was deflected into the net by Wessell Dammers for an own goal.
Midway through the first half the visitors conceded a penalty when Djavan Anderson brought Caner Cavlan down in the area, which Mitchell te Vrede duly converted.
Heerenveen could have been three up in the latter stages of the match when Cavlan and Te Vrede combined to unlock the opposition defence, but the striker was just a bit too late to the ball.
The result sees Dwight Lodeweges's side climb to 14th in the table, four points from the drop zone, while Cambuur remain second from bottom.
