Heracles have registered back-to-back Eredivisie victories for the first time this season by beating Heerenveen 1-0 at the Abe Lenstra Stadion this evening.
Wout Weghorst struck the only goal of the game on 48 minutes to give the visitors a second successive win and leave them one point adrift of safety in the top flight.
The resurgent Heracles threatened with just one minute on the clock as Simon Cziommer's deflected free kick forced Kristoffer Nordfeldt into a smart save early on.
Heerenveen soon grew into the game and could have gone ahead on 20 minutes when Maren de Roon saw his effort tipped past the post by Dennis Telgenkamp.
Telgenkamp reproduced his heroics a little later, this time denying Sam Larsson in perhaps the best chance of the first half.
Just three minutes had elapsed in the second half before Heracles edged ahead, with Weghorst latching on to Oussama Tannane's ball to fire past Nordfeldt.
The host struggled to create the chances necessary to restore parity, and Bryan Linssen missed a good opportunity to kill off the game on 78 minutes.
It did not prove costly, however, as Heracles held on to boost their survival hopes and inflict a third successive home defeat on Heerenveen.
