FC Utrecht succumbed to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of improving Heracles in this afternoon's Eredivisie clash at the Stadion Galgenwaard.
The visitors took the lead through Thomas Bruns, who bundled the ball into the net following a free kick after just eight minutes.
However, Utrecht equalised midway through the first half when Kristoffer Peterson marauded forward and slotted the ball past Dennis Telgenkamp.
Not long after the goal, the hosts had a great chance to go in front when Wouter Weghorst committed a foul in the Heracles box, but Yassine Ayoub failed to convert his penalty.
Just after the restart, Mark Jan Fledderus retrieved the ball from the edge of the box before blasting a shot into the net to give Heracles the lead for a second time.
The visitors struck again midway through the second half when a swift counterattack led to Weghorst getting into the box and slotting home.
In injury time, Utrecht got themselves back within a goal through Gevero Markiet, but moments later, Illias Bel Hassani fired back to restore Heracles's two-goal cushion and secure them a third straight win.
