Hertha Berlin have sealed a 1-0 win over Hoffenheim in Sunday's Bundesliga clash at the Olympiastadion to remain in the hunt for a European place.
The hosts took the lead on the half-hour mark when Marvin Plattenhardt's free kick was met by the head of Eugen Polanski and flew into his own net.
Plattenhardt then clipped a neat ball into the box in the direction of Salomon Kalou just before the break, but the Ivory Coast man could not latch on to the delivery.
In the second half Hoffenheim had numerous chances to get back into the game, most notably through Kevin Volland and Eduardo Vargas, but both efforts were wayward as Hertha hung on to the win.
The result sees Pal Dardai's charges climb to fourth in the Bundesliga table, while Hoffenheim remain rooted to the bottom.
