Brentford and Hull City have been unable to break the deadlock during the first half at Griffin Park which has ended 0-0.
The hosts started brightly and Allan McGregor had to be alert to push away Marco Djuricin's second-minute strike.
Three minutes later, Sam Clucas sent a dangerous cross into the box at the other end, but Abel Hernandez couldn't quite stretch enough to make solid contact with the ball.
Brentford soon regained authority though, and Ryan Woods flashed an effort wide before McGregor denied Djuricin once more with his feet.
John Swift then fired a free kick at McGregor, while Lasse Vibe saw his shot fly wide of the post in the 30th minute.
Hernandez had the opportunity to open the scoring with a free kick five minutes before the break, but his attempt dropped the wrong side of the upright.
