Hull City defender Michael Dawson has praised his team for the character that they showed during Saturday's 4-2 defeat to Manchester City.
The Tigers found themselves 2-0 down inside the opening 10 minutes at the KC Stadium before fighting back to make it 2-2 at the break.
However, champions Manchester City proved too much in the second half as they found the net twice more to claim the points.
Despite being on the wrong end of the result, Dawson believes that Hull should hold their heads high following such a spirited performance.
"Manchester City deserve respect, but not as much as we showed them. They punished us for it," he told the club's official website. "We showed an awful lot of character, an awful lot of fight and an awful lot of quality once we got into the game.
"We got at them and put them on the back foot and to be honest, half time probably came at the wrong time for us because it allowed them to regroup."
Hull's Premier League campaign resumes this Saturday when they host Crystal Palace.
