Hull City score a goal in each half to secure a 2-0 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League at the KC Staidum.

A goal in each half from Hull City has given the side a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at the KC Stadium in the Premier League this evening.

Paul Lambert's side dominated possession in the opening 10 minutes, but only Andreas Weimann could get the ball away, slicing it well wide.

Dame N'Doye threatened as Hull started to look more lively, picking up the ball after an error from Ciaran Clark, but his shot was comfortably held by Brad Guzan.

The new signing continued to cause problems for Villa, and set up Nikica Jelavic for a goal with just over 20 minutes played as the Croatian rifled the ball into the top corner, although it did take a deflection off Clark.

Chances remained at a premium for Villa throughout the first half, with Fabian Delph coming closest to an equaliser when he fired his long-range effort well wide.

Lambert made a change at half time, sending on Christian Benteke in a bid to give his side more firepower up front, but the Belgian struggled to get involved at the start of the second half.

Robbie Brady came close to extending Steve Bruce's side's lead as he cut inside before looking for the bottom corner, but his finish was a fraction wide.

The Tigers did add a second with just under 20 minutes to go when N'Doye smashed the ball home at the second time of asking after Guzan had saved a first attempt from the forward.

Benteke came close to getting the visitors back into the game a few minutes later, but some close marking from Michael Dawson forced him to take the shot early, and he fired straight at Allan McGregor.

McGregor had to be alert in stoppage time as Villa pushed for a late consolation, but they were unable to add just their 13th goal of the season, as Benteke fired straight at the Scottish international.

The result moves Hull up to 15th in the table, while Villa slip into the relegation zone with their fifth straight defeat.
