Hull City have reportedly begun talks with Kevin Doyle after agreeing a fee of £3m for the striker with Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier today.
Tigers boss Steve Bruce has been chasing new forwards for much of the close season, despite bringing in strike duo Danny Graham and Yannick Sagbo.
Doyle started for Wolves against Gillingham yesterday but is still not part of manager Kenny Jackett's long-term plans, primarily due to his high wages.
Hull are keen on Doyle but want the Republic of Ireland international to agree a wage cut from his current £40,000 a week salary before any move can be finalised, according to The Mirror.
The 29-year-old has just entered his fifth season at Molineux, scoring 30 goals in 150 appearances for the Old Gold.
