Hull City are reportedly considering a bid for Aston Villa defender Micah Richards as caretaker manager Mike Phelan attempts to bolster his squad before the transfer window closes.
The Tigers have made the perfect start to their first season back in the Premier League, despite being without a manager and having a squad of just 13 senior players to choose from.
According to The Mirror, Phelan has been given the go-ahead by the Tigers hierarchy to take Richards on loan from Championship side Villa for the season.
The 28-year-old moved to the Midlands on a free from Manchester City last summer but has been told that he can find a new club after the club's relegation from the top flight.
Phelan is said to be confident that a deal can be wrapped up imminently and hopes to be able to name Richards in the matchday squad for the visit of Manchester United this weekend.
