Romania have slipped to second in Euro 2016 qualifying Group F after a goalless draw against fellow hopefuls Hungary.
Balazs Dzsudzsak had an early free kick just off target as Hungary started the game strongly against the then leaders.
Adam Szalai came close late in the first half whenr his attempt from just outside the box was saved in the top corner by Romanian goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu.
In the second half, Wisla Krakow defender Richard Guzmics missed a golden opportunity with his header from yards out after connecting with a Dzsudzsak free kick.
Romanian winger Gabriel Torje came close with 10 minutes remaining but his low left-footed shot from outside the area was comfortably saved by Gabor Kiraly.
The draw sees Northern Ireland leapfrog Romania in Group F but they still have their fate in their own hands as they face Greece at home on Monday.
Hungary will head to Belfast on Monday knowing that a defeat will mean they will rely on results elsewhere to qualify automatically for Euro 2016.
