Cristian Chivu has signed a new contract with Inter Milan that will keep him at the club until 2015.
The Romanian defender, who joined the club from Roma in 2007, agreed to the new terms following assurances that he would play in his favoured centre-back position, according to his agent.
"He has just extended the contract with Inter for another three years," Gigi Becali told Radio Mana Mana.
"There are no clauses in the contract about which position Chivu will play, but Stramaccioni and Branca have assured me that he will mostly play at centre-back, except in emergency cases, where he would play at left-back."
Chivu has made over 150 appearances for Inter.
